Afro-textured hair pertains to 20% of the French population, yet access to specialized salons remains limited.
Recognizing this gap, Rebecca Cathline and Didier Derozin launched ‘Ma Coiffeuse Afro’ in 2016. This app connects approximately 4.5 million Black and mixed-race women in France with expert hairdressers at home, helping to celebrate and normalize kinky and curly hair textures.
Rebecca developed an entrepreneurial spirit early on; at 18, she launched ‘Rap O Féminin,’ the first compilation dedicated to women’s rap, distributed by Because Music.
Rebecca grew up in the beauty industry, with her mother running several salons. Despite this familiarity, she struggled to find stylists or products suited to her unique hair and skin type.
Motivated by her personal experiences, Rebecca, along with her partner Didier Derozin, launched MaCoiffeuseAfro.com in February 2016 after being recognized as a finalist in the Talent du Numérique (BFM Business).
After their selection for Open Innovation, L’Oréal’s startup accelerator program, Rebecca and her team launched In Haircare in 2019. Rebecca continues to champion innovation, inclusion, and care in the beauty industry.
